Live Life. Do Good.
Join Us – Be the Hand that Helps
At Non-Profit Wrench, we believe everyone deserves mobility, safety, and peace of mind in their everyday life. Since our founding, we’ve served folks in the Southeastern Minnesota area who are low-income or living with a disability — providing free car maintenance and property-upkeep services so our neighbors can keep getting to work, keep their homes safe, and keep their independence. Now, we’re looking for skilled, generous people like you to join our volunteer team and make an even greater impact.
Who We Need
We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities – so whether your strength is under the hood, behind the wheel of a plow truck, or managing a busy shop, there’s a place for you. In particular, we are looking for:
Mechanics (automotive, light‐truck) – folks comfortable doing diagnostics, brake/fluid/engine/repair work, helping cars back on the road.
Shop managers or lead technicians – help coordinate volunteer repair work, oversee projects, mentor newer volunteers.
Car haulers / tow truck drivers – we assist people whose vehicles may be stranded, need removal, or need safe transport.
Lawn maintenance & landscaping crews – mowing, trimming, yard clean-ups, debris removal for those in need of help on their properties.
Snow-plow / snow-removal operators – drive the truck, clear driveways, enable mobility through winter for folks who cannot shovel.
Handy‐persons / carpenters – property repairs, light construction, clean-ups, helping keep homes safe and functional.
Equipment-owners/Operators – Have a truck, skid-steer, trailer, plow, lawn-mower, or other heavy-duty tool or vehicle? We’d love to partner with you.
Administrative Staff and Fund Raising Personnel - If you have expertice in the office, operating systems, databases, phone skills or grant writing and fund raising abilities, we need you!
Why Volunteer With Us
By giving your time, talent, or equipment, you’ll not only change someone’s life — you’ll enrich your own.
You’ll see real, tangible impact: A reliable vehicle means someone can keep their job; a cleared driveway means someone can safely get out in winter.
You’ll join a community of dedicated, caring volunteers who believe in service and humanity.
You’ll gain or fulfil service hours (great for high school, college, trade certification programs).
You’ll have the satisfaction of using your skills and tools for good — whether you’re turning a wrench, driving a plow, or leading a project, you’re essential.
You may discover new skills, meet new people, and deepen your appreciation for community life.
What Commitment Looks Like
There’s no one-size-fits-all. You can contribute in a way that fits your schedule, skills, and resources:
Donate your time: A few hours a week, or a day a month.
Donate your skills: Bring your mechanic knowledge, your towing expertise, your landscaping know-how.
Donate your equipment: If you own a tow truck, snow-plow truck, trailer, lawn mower fleet, or major workshop tools — your in-kind contribution amplifies our reach.
Adopt a regular slot or be part of our “on call" volunteer pool for urgent service requests.
How To Get Started
Reach out and registere here on our web site or call us at 507-696-3461.
Tell us your area of expertise, availability, and any equipment you can bring.
We’ll work together to match you with the service projects that fit you best — from vehicle repair to snow plowing to yard help.
Get trained (as needed), get connected, and get going.
Log your hours or resources, see your difference in action and get credit for what you do — lives changed, vehicles back on the road, homes made safer.
A Final Word
Vehicles are more than metal and rubber — for many in our community, a car is their lifeline. Without it, they might lose work, struggle with errands, or feel cut off. As our Executive Director says: “How are they going to maintain employment if they can’t get there?”
And homes? Yards? Driveways buried under snow? Lighted by neglect? These affect safety, dignity, and hope.
At Non-Profit Wrench, we fix more than broken cars and overgrown lawns—we restore freedom, stability, and trust. You can make that possible.
Join us. Give of your time, your trade, your tools. Let’s build stronger, more resilient communities together.
